Brace Yourselves Marvelites for a new cosmic adventure series, premiering September 26th only on Disney XD (and the ‘Watch Disney XD’ App) with a special Sneak Preview, Saturday, September 5 (9:00 p.m., ET/PT)
We were invited to a special preview screening and panel where the (voice) actors: Will Friedle (“Star-Lord”/”Peter Quill”), Trevor Devall (“Rocket Raccoon”), Vanessa Marshall (“Gamora”), David Sobolov (“Drax”), Kevin Michael Richardson (“Groot”) along with MARVEL EXECUTIVES, Cort Lane – Vice President, Animation Development & Partnerships, Marvel Animation Studios and Steve Wacker – Vice President, Current Series, Marvel Animation Studios were in attendance to share some teasers and not spoilers to us.
Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” The Animated Series, springboards off of the blockbuster 2014 movie, with our familiar team of interstellar misfits, working together on jobs both heroic and… not so heroic.
We got to see the first episode before its September 5th Sneak Peak (if you’re not a subscriber to DisneyXD, then you’ll have to wait for the official premier on the 26th (2 episode special!), and here’s what to expect without any spoilers:
– In the film, Peter Quill has all sorts of gadgets that help him in his jobs, that return in the show, like his holographic scanner and his gravity mine.
– Star-Lord’s side arm is now the Element Gun, more from the comics rather than the movie, it can do some cool stuff and we also see his helmet can do some cool new things too.
– Baby Groot grew up and he’s back to his full size
– A few familiar faces from the film are back causing trouble for our team
– 3D Models from the movie are used for some of the space action like Star-Lord’s Ship, The Milano, Knowhere, where the Guardians go to regroup, and Necroships that the Sakaaran Troops fly around in.
– Drax is a little more Brute Strength than stabby, in the first episode at least he doesn’t have any knives
– Rocket has a tendency to find blasters and guns and more loot everywhere he goes.
– Gamora seems to be the most level headed out of all of the Guardians, she has a purpose and that is to right as many wrongs as she can, from when she was under Thanos’s power. So, if a job isn’t about helping people, she doesn’t really want to do it.
– Peter Quill still lives by the Ravager Code, and that code is: steal from everybody.
If You’re as big a “Guardians of The Galaxy” Fan as I am, make sure you tune in on Saturday September 5th for the sneak preview of “Road to Knowhere” and watch it again on the 26th before “Knowhere to Run”
Our advice… Set up a season pass on your DVR so you can catch all 26 episodes when they start airing, September 26th, Saturdays on Disney XD and catch them on the Watch Disney XD App
